Effective 13 September 2026. Block is a private community service for participating residential buildings, with an optional neighborhood layer for content residents explicitly choose to share more widely.
What Block collects
We collect account information such as your name and email, verified building membership, profile information you choose to share, posts and listings you create, messages, meetup activity, orders and handoffs, support and safety reports, parcel notifications, and device information needed for notifications and app security.
How we use it
We use this information to verify access, operate your private building community, provide neighborhood features when you choose them, help neighbours communicate and transact, deliver building services and notifications, prevent abuse, respond to support requests, and improve Block.
Building and neighborhood visibility
Building content remains scoped to the building unless a feature clearly indicates a wider audience and you explicitly choose it. Neighborhood content may be visible to authorized people in participating buildings mapped to that neighborhood. Neighborhood identity may show your originating building, but Block does not expose your unit number there.
The public website
The public Block website may show public-safe neighborhood information, participating building names, approved businesses, public events and other information intended for public discovery. Private resident posts, building conversations, messages, unit information and resident directories are not published to the public website by default.
Businesses and sponsored content
Approved businesses may be associated with buildings or neighborhoods they serve. Businesses are not represented as residents. Sponsored placements should be clearly labelled, and Block may record enquiries or transaction attribution when a resident chooses to interact with a provider.
Sharing and sale of data
Block does not sell personal information. We use service providers such as authentication, database, hosting, notifications and app-distribution providers only as needed to operate Block. We do not use cross-app advertising tracking in Block 1.0.
Safety, retention and deletion
We retain information only as reasonably needed to operate Block, meet safety and legal obligations, and preserve legitimate transaction records. You can initiate account deletion from Block under Settings & account, or request deletion from the public account deletion page without reinstalling the app. Some records may be retained when required for fraud prevention, safety, dispute handling or legal obligations.
Your choices
You can control whether approved neighbours can discover your resident profile, choose whether eligible content is shared at building or neighborhood scope, edit or remove profile discovery cards, block other residents, report content, and request account deletion. Profile photos and optional profile details are voluntary.
Questions
For privacy or account questions, use Block → Me → Settings & account → Contact Block support. This attaches your account context securely without publishing your request to your building or neighborhood.
